REVIEW# 109
MOVIE : NIGHTCRAWLER [2014]
Genre: Action/Thriller
Cast: Jake Gyllenhaal,Rene Russo
Director: Dan Gilory
IMDb rating: 7.9/10
Deeps rating: 7.5/10
Verdict: A pulsating thriller with a message about work ethics.
#PLOT.
Lou Bloom [Jake Gyllenhaal],an ambitious man who is ready to do anything to make a good living. He is intelligent with an observing mentality and also willing to work hard for his goals. But strangely his resume doesn't fit anywhere as he is a 'petty thief'. One day he observes freelance photojournalist filming an accident scene for the local news channel and he decides to try this own his own.He buys a a cam coder and out he goes into the LA streets to film the night crimes. He associates with a news director Nina Romina[Rene Russso] ,and soon he becomes obsessed with his new profession.A quick learner which Lou is,soon comes out with sensational news every night which helps in the growth pf the channel.Success seems to have lured him beyond recognition that he proceeds with no ethics and moral conduct, but with the aim of money, glory and ultimate professional success.
#POSITIVES.
1. A never before told story and theme which makes your viewing all the more interesting.A perfect plot for the new world order and life style.A dark but thought-provoking theme.
2. An sublime performance from Jake Gyllenhall as Lou.He is both subtle and powerful in his character.
3. A good screenplay which exhilarate your viewing.
4. Splendid making, great action scenes and sleek visuals.
#NEGATIVES.
1. The movie ends with the wrong message which is confusing for many.Success should carry some morality at least. Well....it's an entirely new world out there.
2. The romantic angle given to the Lou-Nina relation looked awkward. It was unnecessary.
#BOX OFFICE.
The movie received positive reviews from crtics especially for the performance of Jake Gyllenhaal. Many rated it as the his best ever and he was even compared to the young Robert De Niro.New strategies like viral marketing was tried for the movie's promotion. It worked as the movie became a box office hit,the much needed hit for Jake in his career. It garnered around $52 million world wide against a small budget of $8.5 million.

TIP OF THE DAY: A MAN WITHOUT ETHICS IS A WILD BEAST LOOSED UPON THIS WORLD.
