#PLOT.
The all-powerful Don,Vito Corleone[Marlon Brando],controls the city of New York. With many congressmen, senators, judges and even actors under his control,he earns a lot of respect from all especially from the world of underground crime and he is respectfully called 'The Godfather'. He is powerful than America, influential than the court and dominant than the law itself. When justice fails, the Godfather takes the case in his court. The Godfather has a large family and a group of very loyal friends. With little challenge from other crime families around, he rules like the absolute Don,until the arrival of  the arrival of drug baron Virgil Sollozzo. He along with Tattaglia crime family plans a narcotic business and for that they approach the Godfather for help and protection. The Godfather who is a man of honor and principles deny the deal and this decision proves costly as it turns Tattaglia family hostile and violent and they are get ready for an undeclared war against the Godfather and his men.
Unfortunate killings happen when the hostile group turns violent and the Godfather himself get shot five times. This news prompts Micheal [Al Pacino],Don's youngest son who was a Marine,to comeback. The news of Godfather getting shot create panic both in the newspapers and the crime world.Sonny ,who is the oldest son of the Godfather takes control over the proceedings and he embarks upon a revenge journey against the Tattaglia family.Micheal kills Virgil and the corrupt police captain and takes refuge in Sicily. But things get worse when Sonny gets killed by Tattaglia's men.Micheal returns and he takes charge from his father. He knows that there is a traitor in his own family and he decides to straighten things up.Micheal means business and he sets out on a dangerous path to settle scores with all his family enemies.
#POSITIVES.

1. THE STORY: Based on Marrio Puzo's best selling novel. You will never find characters more bold and dominating.A perfect picture of underworld and a perfect example of a true Godfather.
2. SCREENPLAY: By Marrio Puzo and Francis Ford Coppollo.Well-written that there is not a scene that is misplaced, not a character that is misfit and not even a word to be erased. It maintains the pace throughout.
3. PERFORMANCES: Top class performances from Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. Both are so effective in a their bold and daring characters as underworld dons. All the cast were excellent and I said before there is not a single unwanted role and every one is perfectly cast.
4. DIRECTION: Master class from the great Francis Ford Coppollo.Well researched and well adapted from the novel. His efforts made this gangster movie so absorbing for the viewers. He was successful in presenting the gangster's perspective of the mafia as a response to corrupt society.
5. TECHNICAL ASPECTS: Sound effects that will remain in our ears for long.Perfection in editing which helps to maintain the pace throughout.Excellent and rich sets and costumes.
6. Everything is just  perfect about this movie.
#NEGATIVES.

1.Can anyone point out one.
#AWARDS AND OTHER ACCOLADES.

1. Eleven nominations for 45th Academy Awards.Won for Best Actor,Best adapted Screenplay and Best picture.
2. Seven nominations for Golden Globe and won five.
3. Five nominations for 26th British Academy awards .
4. Won the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures at 25th Directors Guild Awards.
5.Many many more awards in various categories across the world.
6. In 1998,The Godfather was voted the best movie by Time Out.
7. in 1999, Entertainment Weekly named it the greatest film ever made.
8. In 2005 it was named as one of the 100 greatest films in the last 80 years by Time magazine.
#BOX OFFICE.
Blockbuster. It was the highest grossing film until 1975.Rental sales too set a new record. It collected $245 million against a budget of $7 million. It was re-released many times and every time it attracted crowds.
#CONTROVERSIES.
Marlon Brando boycotted the Academy Award ceremony in protest to the depiction of  American Indians in Hollywood.Al Pacino too boycotted the ceremony as an insult to be nominated as the best Supporting Actor.
My opinion: Both Marlon Brando and Al Pacino should have shared the best Actor Category.

TIP OF THE DAY: OBEY TOUR GOD.OBEY YOUR FATHER.THEN WHY YOU NEED A GODFATHER?!
