Verdict: An edge of the seat thriller.

#PLOT.
    David Gale [Kevin Spacey],was an intellectual,professor and a social activist.He along with Constance [Laura Linney],has been campaigning for a long time against capital punishment in the state of Texas.But ironically David Gale himself is sentenced to death for raping and killing his fellow worker and friend Constance.Just four days before the execution he calls up a journalist in a major news magazine,Betsy Bloom [Kate Winslet] and explains her all the incidents in his life which finally ended up in his death row.As the story proceeds Betsy starts to believe strongly that David Gale is innocent and he was framed in this murder.But time is too short for Betsy to prove Gale,s innocence.She must act swift and precise to save Gale from his death row.

#POSITIVES.
1. An intriguing plot that keeps the suspense till the very end.
2. Excellent climax with an unexpected twist.
3. Kevin Spacey proves once again why he is such an excellent actor.He does the complex role of David Gale with so much ease.
4. Kate Winslet is as powerful in her expressions as ever.She does full justice to her character. 
5. Excellent making and full marks to  Alan Parker for his top class direction.

#NEGATIVES.
1. An intricate subject that may not be everyone's first choice.The film fails to deliver a convincing argument against death penalty.
2. Some adult scenes that is not suitable for children under 18.
3. Sometimes the film falls as a documentary against capital punishment.This spoils the thrill.
4. Some cannot digest the climax but I liked the last twist so much.

# BOX OFFICE.
     The movie opened to mixed reviews from the critics mainly because of the controversial plot.The movie was given thumps up by many social activists.At the box office the movie didn't fair well enough as expected.It could gross only around $37 million against a big budget of $36 million.
