Deeps rating: 7.5/10
Verdict: A war movie never made better than this.

MY SALUTE TO ALL SOLDIERS WHO DEFEND THEIR NATIONS.THEY ARE THE REAL EXAMPLES OF TRUE PATRIOTISM.
A military operation which was supposed to be a walk in the park for American Military in Somalia turns out to be a bloody graveyard.Somalia, was just getting buried under a civil war which has taken  more than 3 lakh lives and left  millions starving .UN peacekeeping force were trying their best to support the peacekeeping operation and sending food and medical supplies across the starving millions. But the Mogadishu-based militia loyal to Muhammed Farrah Aidid declares war on UN peacekeepers and capture all the food supplies meant for poor.He is the self-proclaimed leader of Somalia who uses starvation as the weapon against his own people. Finally President Will Clinton decides to send US military to capture or kill Aidid and establish democracy. This movie depics a true incident called the 'Battle of Mogadishu',a supposed raid in the Somalian capital but which turned out to a bloody battle killing more than thousand people.
Unreliable intel, inefficient planning, improper study of both geography and demography when in an operation in many Afro-Asian countries are the real cause of setbacks for any military. This is exactly what happened to the US army 75th Rangers in Mogadishu.A group of more than hundred soldiers which included both experienced as well as new recruits raid the city on the basis of available intel but get trapped in between thousands of heavily armed Somalian fighters aligned with  Aidid. They inflict heavy casualties on the US army but matters go beyond planning as the militia bring down two Black Hawks helicopter.Panic rips through US soldiers and they get shattered on the ground surrounded by the Somalian men who turns out  in thousands.Lack of medics and loss of many personals compel the US army to get reinforcements from 10th Mountain Division, including Malaysian and Pakistani units from the UN coalition.
Nobody is victorious in any wars. What will always remain are pain, agony, misery and poverty. The men who survive are sometimes called heroes but I am sure these so called heroes would never like to see their medal of  honor ,another day.I feel, to survive a war after witnessing a lot of blood, scream of your companions, death of your partners, cries of help, fear on women and children;no hero would like to remember the days in battlefield again.Petty games played on the name of politics takes millions of lives across the world every year.
Its never easy to picturize a full length war movie involving high-tech weapons and armed aerial fighters.Ridley Scott once again proves his mastery as a director with almost near to perfection frames in this movie. The movie won Academy Awards for best editing, and sound mixing at the 74th Academy Awards. The movie was a success in the box office too.As one of the best war movies it is, you dont want to miss this intense action.ONCE AGAIN A BIG SALUTE TO ALL SOLDIERS AROUND THE WORLD.
