Verdict: A perfect film noir.
#PLOT.
    A small and peaceful town of Millbrook,Indiana ,where Tom Stall[Viggo Mortensen],runs a small diner.He is a perfect family man with two children.He never forgets to advice his children about moral behavior and basic qualities in life.But an unfortunate incident changes his whole life upside down.Two armed men  try to rob his diner and kill one of the waitress.Tom acts swiftly and kill the robbers with surprising precision.Next day he is all over the American TV hailed as a hero.But along with all this praise came a group of armed gangsters under Carl Fagerty [Ed Harris].They strongly believe that Tom Stall is an old and famous killer of an Irish gang named Joey Cusack and the one who is responsible for knocking out, one of the eyes of Fagerty.Tom and his wife try to convince them that it's a mistaken identity and they take the help of local police.But are these organized and dangerous gangsters wrong?!!Does Tom has a bitter and violent past?!!

1. An exciting plot and an equally exciting narration. The film never slows down making it an exhilarating watch.

3. A subtle acting performance from Viggo Mortensen.Time and again he has proved that he is one of the most flexible actors around.
4. Top performance from the legendary Ed Harris and William Hurt.
5. A really potent screenplay which helps to keep the thrill going throughout.
#NEGATIVES.
1. Some adult scenes in between which may be irritating for some.
2. Violence can be a cause of concern for certain viewers.
#BOX OFFICE AND ACCOLADES.
  The movie was received highly positive reviews from critics.It was named as the best movie of 2005 and also named the in list of 100 best movies since 2000.The critics praised the direction of David Cronenberg and some even stated him as the master of thriller movies,
  The movie won many awards in various film festivals.It won the award for the Best movie in almost every Critic Awards around the world.William Hurt was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor for the Oscars.The movie also got nomination for the best adapted Screenplay too.
  It was a success at the box office too,grossing $60 million against a budget of $32 million.
