Verdict: An iconic one from Clint Eastwood.The perfect cowboy!!!!!

   #PLOT.
    Josey Wales,was a farmer in Missouri living a happy life with his wife and son.During civil war,oneday their house is attacked by Union militants under Jawhawker and they kill his wife and son.Captain Terril was in charge of this brigade and and poor Josey is unable to help his family.He buries his son and vows to take revenge against his families killers.He joins the pro-confederate group called the Bushwackers under Anderson and fights the civil war against the Union army.As the war ends all the guerrillas are persuaded by CaptaIn Terril to surrender and they are promised amnesty.The whole Anderson gang except Josey decide to surrender but contrary to the promise given the gang is massacred by union army.

            This ignites fire in Josey as he fights alone with the army and kills many Redlegs with a Gatling gun.He flees the scene and the union army declares him as the most wanted outlaw with a bounty of $5000 on his head.Special groups are formed under Anderson and Jayhacker and a country wide search is planned to hunt down the the most efficient and accurate shooter in Texas.Josey evades the army and other bounty hunters with the help of an old Indian but eluding the big search network for long, is never easy.His thirst for revenge cannot be quenched until he kills his families murderers.

#POSITIVES.

1. Clint Eastwood.The perfect cowboy with his style and mannerisms.Years may have passed,by still Hollywood is waiting for someone who could match Eastwood's style and class.
2. Clint Eastwood as a director.The genius in him is once again on display.An intelligent director with perfection in his action scenes and visuals.
3. Excellent photography.It's a wonder to see this quality in a 1976 movie.
4.Sondra Locke looks gorgeous.I felt she resembles a lot like the modern french actress, Melanie Laurent.

#NEGATIVES.

1. It will not be fair to criticize a 1976 movie now for it's technical flaws.So I don't want to.

#BOX OFFICE.

    In 1996,the film was selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry for it,s cultural and historical significance.It was praised by the critics upon it's release.The movie made with a budget of $3.7 million racked in a huge $32 million at the box office making it a grand commercial success.
