MOVIE: THE HATEFUL EIGHT [2015]
Genre: Action/Thriller/Western
Cast: Kurt Russell,Samuel L.Jackson
Director: Quintin Tarantino
IMDb rating: 7.8/10
Deeps rating: 7.5/10
Verdict: A typical Quintin movie.Too much bloody and fleshy.A high-wire thriller.
#PLOT.
After the Civil war,Major Marquis Warren[Samuel Jackson] is transporting 3 dead bounties to Red Rock,Wyoming. As his horse is dead he is expecting someone for help.A stage coach driven by O.B and carrying John Roth [Kurt Russell],another bounty hunter bringing in an outlaw Daisy Domergue for hanging in Red Rock picks up Major Marquis and his dead bodies. As the climate turns bad with a blizzard coming they pick up another person too named Chris Mannix, who claims to be the new sheriff of Red Rock. All four of them decide to take up refuge in Minnie's Haberdashery for a few days as the climate gets worsened and the route gets covered with snow.
Minnie and her husband is not there and they welcomed by a Mexican,Bob.As Roth enters the motel he finds three other men there already, taking refuge from the blizzard. As they come to know each other more Roth gets the feeling that all these are a plan behind to free his bounty Daisy and he asks hlp from Marquis. In the following days in Minnie's Haberdashery, strange things happen and hatred starts to grow between these eight men. They are confused to identify who is the friend and who is the real enemy.Killings start to happen and trust seems to diminish.....
#POSITIVES.
1. Quintin Tarantino....What more?!His touch is evident in every frame.
2. Excellent performance from Kurt Russell. He puts up a convincing act as John Roth.
3. Samuel L.Jackson once again proves his credibility as one of the finest in Hollywood.
4. Thriller with masterly executed twists and some crazy-funny-violent action.
5. Excellent visuals and tempting music.
#NEGATIVES.
1. Unimaginative story line and weird sometimes.
2. Too much drag in the first half with lots of horse riding and dialogues off topic.
3. Too much violence with lots of blood and flesh which can be disturbing for some.
4. Loose and sluggish which bores you mainly in the first half.
#BOX OFFICE.
As all Quintin movies this too had a warm welcome at the box office.Even though this movie had a limited release it managed to collect $155 million against a budget of $44 million. The movie was acclaimed well by most of the critics.
I am Deepak Unnikrishnan and I will be back with another movie from my collection, soon.
TIP OF THE DAY: GOSSIP IS SPREAD BY WICKED PEOPLE.
