Verdict : A sincere effort.A nail biting thriller.

   Gene Watson [Johnny Depp],widowed with a little girl is an accountant.He is a quiet person,well mannered with all qualities to be called a gentleman.He and his little daughter is welcomed at the Union Station in Los Angels with an unpleasant surprise.Two strangers Mr.Smith and Ms Jones,dressed like cops take them away to their car where Watson is threatened and forced to do something obscure.Mr Smith hands over an envelope with the photo of a lady and a revolver with six bullets,to Watson.He is instructed to kill this women in 90 minutes or else his daughter will be killed by them.Shocked and confused Watson has no other choice other than to obey them to save his daughter.

     He is followed by Mr Smith relentlessly to ensure that Watson doesn't seek the help of others and he don't disclose to cops or authorities about this incident.Watson reaches the hotel where the supposed target is staying and to add to his pressure,he finds that the lady to be executed is the Governor,who is running her new election campaign.Caught between devil and sea,Watson tries many ways to convince his situation to many and even to run away,but Mr Smith who follows him like a shadow foils his efforts.He meets the governor in the lift but the fear of doing something unlawful turns him off.Outraged Mr.Smith, that Watson spoiled a golden opportunity warns his about her child frequently and tempts him to do it in the next attempt.

      Watson eventually meets a handicapped shoe polisher and explains to him the trap he is in but he lends no ear at first but circumstances that happens later make him trust Watson and he decides to help.Soon Watson observe that the planned killing of the Governor is a bigger plot than he imagined which include his personal security guards and even her husband.The plot was to put Watson as a scapegoat and to execute him once he shoots the governor.Watson decides to meet the governor himself and explain the booby trap he is in,but things looks more and more strapping with every tick of time.He has on way out unless someone or something numinous happens at the 'nick of time'.

        The movie was slammed by critics upon its release which lead to its failure at the box office.But later it was successful to get into people's collection for its intense plot and Johnny Depp's matured performance.Chrisopher Walkin,as usual renders a convincing act.This movie can be classified as an edge of the seat thriller but it would have been much better with some clever editing.It's worth a watch and I am sure you wont be disappointed.
