Verdict: An interesting investigation.Top billed cast.Worth your time.

 LAPD detectives Will Dormer[Al Pacino] and Hap Eckhart[Martin donovan] are send to a an Alaskan town for the investigation of the murder of a 17 year old girl named Kay.Dormer who is known for his expertise in this field is welcomed by Ellie Burr[HillarySwank] to the town called NightmudeShe is very proud to assist a genius like Dormer in the investigation.Dormer,who looks at the report and corpse makes his first move to catch the killer.But the killer escapes the trap amidst heavy mist.Even though Dormer and cops fire at him, thick mist block their vision.Accidently one of the bullet from Dormers gun hits his partner Hap and he dies there.Dormer,who has a great record as a cop and few days to retire don't want trouble during his last few months of his career.So he decides to cover up the mistake by blaming the killer for his partners death.Nobody seems to doubt that view as the killer too carried a gun and there was a second shot.

           There was no confusion and Dormer could easily replace the bullet in Hap's body.But the incident affects Dormer mentally and he loses his sleep.He soon develops Insomnia and he starts fearing light,in a town where the sun never sets.But he continues on with the investigation of the homicide;when one day he receives a call who introduces himself as the witness of shooting of Hap and it turns out to be the very killer who Dormer is after.The genius in Dormer tracks down  the killers home and he plants evidences against him in his home.But the killer is too smart to be trapped and he calls Dormer for a face to face conversation.

                    The killer named Walter Finch [ Robin Williams],convinces Dormer that the killing of the girl was just an accident like what happened to Dormer in Hap's case.He offers full confidence to Dormer in hiding the incident of Hap,if Dormer diverts his investigation of Kay's murder towards her abusive and crook boy friend Randy.Dormer already plagued by Insomnia,crack up and yields to his demands.The cops arrest Randy but the young investigator Ellie,who feels suspicious about Dormer and Hap's incident, had other intentions.Before Dormer decides to return,he has a final meeting with Walter and things turn upside down.Ellie with her findings on Hap's death on one side and a wise killer on the other,Dormer seems to be in some serious trouble..

             A Christopher Nolan movie has its own flavor and supernatural plots.even though this movienever touches the supernatural aspect of Nolon,it still gives you an impression of something special than usual.Al Pacino deserves all credit to carry this movie on his own shoulders with a super performance of a genius investigator with no sleep for days.A kind of half crazy guy with insomnia and a sharp investigator,he has to go through various emotions but a legend like him makes it look natural.Robin Williams seems to be very soft, for a serial killer image after all the great movies he has given in past which made all of us laugh a lot.Over all a good package which contains a good plot,suspense and twists and some great performance from Al Pacino and supporting cast.GO FOR IT.
