Battle of 80's: FIRST BLOOD v/s PREDATOR

SUNDAY SPECIAL: CLASH OF THE TITANS IN 1980's.
REVIEW#31 : FIRST BLOOD [1982] and REVIEW#32: PREDATOR [1987]
                              

             Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were the two superstars which helped Hollywood to reach out into every look and corner of this world during the last three decades of the twentieth century.English movies was all about Bond and his 007 heroics in many third world countries and non-English speaking countries.But these superstars with their high voltage action movies attracted many into halls across the world.Language was no barrier because these movies did less talking,instead they were filled with mind blowing action and fireworks.All including the rich and poor thronged theaters to watch them in action and almost all their movies in 70's and 80's had huge reception not only in Hollywood but also in many non-English speaking countries.They were the first Universal Superstars from Hollywood.Many classics at that time, like The Godfather,The Goodfellas and Bond movies were for the educated and rich class ,but John Rambo and Dutch were common man's heroes.

Verdict: John Rambo was a phenomenon during the 80's.A youth Icon in many countries.
                     A Vietnam veteran John Rambo, travels to the city of Hope to meet some of his old comrades but is intercepted by town's Sheriff Will Teasle[Brian Dennely]. Teasle , not pleased with Rambo's attitude or his hair style, decides to drop him out of his town to avoid any problems in his area.This doesn't go well with him and he returns back to town where he is arrested and abused by Teasle's officers.Rambo escapes from his custody causing heavy casualties,into a forest.Cops fail to catch him and Teasle call upon National guards to help him find Rambo.Rambo's mentor,Colonel Sam [Richard Crena] arrives at the scene and explains to Teasle,how Rambo was trained to survive long in hostile situations and how dangerous he could turn if provoked.Teasle listens none and he tries to bring down Rambo with all potency.Hell breaks loose and the whole town has to pay the price.
                This movie broke all domestic records for Hollywood movies in many countries.After its release this became a cult film and an influential movie in the action genre.John Rambo became an icon among youth.They wanted to dress like him,grow hair like him,wear T-shirts of him and even build their body like him.An iconic movie of 1980's and one of the most popular movies of all time.

Verdict: Released at a time when Science fiction movies were a rarity.High Voltage action.
                    A CIA team is sent to the forests to rescue an official held hostage by insurgents. Dutch[Arnold],with his three member crew arrives at the site and attacks the insurgent camps and take hostage a guerilla.But they soon discovers that an unusual creature is following them which has special powers and weapons like plasma weapon.One by one,Dutch loses his men and he has to do something special to kill the alien.
                  The movie was a surprise for 80's audience as Alien movies with such high quality was a rarity,and the high voltage action sequences was a surprise for them.Arnold carrying ton load of ammunition was a delight and his heavy fight scenes aroused the crowds.The movie went on to become one of the biggest hits of all time.

            No other actors in the modern era have had the same stature and authority,these two had at their prime.They still has their own fans and continue their presence in Hollywood.Stallone has his share of successful movies along with some handy script writing.Arnold went on to become the Governor of California and still is one of the most respected personalities of our times.In the last three decades of twentieth century they were much ahead of their contemporaries like Bruce Willis,Van Damme,Kurt Russel and Mel Gibson.They came together again in Expendable's series and Escape Plan.I am sure their best is yet to come.LOOKING FORWARD FOR MORE, FROM THESE LEGENDS IN FUTURE.
