BOX OFFICE REVIEW AFTER FIRST WEEK OF ONAM RELEASES.

MOVIE# 1

                Amidst mixed reviews as I had written in my earlier page in this same blog,Velipadinte pustakam continues to lead in the Kerala box office.As predicted the Mohanlal factor has helped in a great way so has the popular Jimmikki song.There is a substantial dip in collections in Multies but the movie is holding well in single screens.The long holidays and festive season which fetches families in to cinema halls ,has helped the movie a lot.But from my earlier page I may have to amend my prediction of 22-25 cr from Kerala lone to around 20 cr in the final run.World wide gross is expected to touch 27-28 cr.

8 days Kerala Gross: 13.75 cr.
Verdict: Super Hit.

MOVIE# 2

     

         This movie has the better WOM among Onam releases.It has helped the movie in a big way.Even though th collections are not strong in single screens due to tough competiton from Velipadinte pustakam ,in Multies this movie is far ahead than any other release.As I told in the blog page before it will have a long run in the Multies.My earlier prediction of a total Kerala Gross of 15-18 cr is most likely.

7 days Kerala Gross : 9.72 cr.
Verdict:Super Hit

MOVIE# 3

              Prithviraj has realized by now ,that action thrillers are not the flavour for Onam.Just like Ooozham ,this movie also could not compete with other family dramas during Onam season.A well made movie like this deserved more.But the Prithviraj's stardom is still holding the movie well in Multies.But this movie may have a long run in Multies if youth turns out big after the holidays.My earlier prediction of 10-12 cr seems possible.Lets wait and see.

7 days Kerala Gross: 5.52 cr.
Verdict: Above average.

MOVIE# 4

     Another Mammoty movie uprooted in the box office but this time after getting an above average WOM.This clearly underlines the fact that family audiences have almost deserted him.His fans are trying desperately to promote the movie but it hasn't succeeded yet as far as collections are concerned.Its just long enough for Mammoty to realize that glamour wont bring in the audience ,but its the content especially something of his age is what that matters at the box office.Mammotty who has the worst collection records in Multies will have to rely heavily on the single screens in coming days.Good promotions can still save this good movie.

Verdict: Average.
