Verdict: An technically sound war thriller.
#PLOT.
Chris Burnett [Owen Wilson] is an American Naval Officer who decides to leave the forces because of non-action and andlack of any thrill.He is fed up of the daily routine flights and naval drills and his decision to leave the Navy doesn't go down well with his commanding officer, Admiral Reigart.On the eve of Christmas, Chris and his Lieutenant Stackhouse are assigned for an aerial reconnaissance mission over the demilitarized zone over Bosnia.But they drift off from the assigned path and are shot down by the dangerous Bosnian Serbs.Stackhouse is shot dead by the rebels but Chris manages to escape.As the peace talks are at full swing with the Bosnian rebels both US and NATO refuse to send in a rescue mission to save Chris and deny any violation of airspace.But Admiral Reigart has other ideas and as a true commanding officer he decides to rescue his boy Chris at any cost.

1. An excellent thriller from start to end.An interesting plot executed with lots of conviction.
2. War sequences are well taken.Technically a superb movie on all fronts especially the visuals.
3. Top-notch performance from Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson.
#NEGATIVES.
1. The movie was widely criticized for its over blown violence.
2. It was also infamous for depicting Bosnian rebels like terrorists in the movie.
#BOX OFFICE.
The movie was very well received at the box office.It prompted the makers to come up with many sequels in the coming years.The movie collected $92 million against a budget of $40 million making it a huge success.
