Verdict: A wisely written movie with an authentic touch.A must watch for serious movie lovers.
Note: Some of the crime scenes in this movie looks so crude that I won't recommend this movie for children below 16 years.

#PLOT.
  A 14 year old girl ,Tatiana ,who is pregnant falls unconscious after terrible bleeding in a shop.She is rushed to the hospital by strangers where she dies after child birth.Anna Khitrova [Niomi Watts],isa British-Russian midwife who is working in the London Hospital.She finds a diary from Tatiana's body and she hands over the diary to her uncle for translating as the diary is written in Russian language.She also finds a card for the Trans-Siberian Restaurant in the dairy and she meets up with the owner of the restaurant named Semyon.The dairy and it's contents drag Anna and her family into the dangerous world of Russian mafia including cold-blooded killings,drugs and human trafficking.Semyon himself turns out to be the brutal leader of 'vor' organization,a dangerous Russian mafia group.But unexpected help arrives for Anna at the right time.

#POSITIVES.
1. It's no ordinary thriller but it's a genuine attempt to visualize the inside's of the Russian mafia.The movie looks so original with it's crime scenes that it can be a difficult watch for some.
2. The director,David Cronenberg has dome a fabulous job to make this movie look so authentic.It shows his considerable formal intelligence and aptitude.He looks in total control.
3. Strong screenplay is the biggest asset for this movie.It maintains the pace and the tension throughout.
4. Mortensen excels in the movie.He is more electrifying that all the other movies he has done before.
5. Rich on all technical aspects.Crisp camera work.

#NEGATIVES.
1. The movie is scary in many parts as the crime scenes are so crude and looks original.This makes the movie a difficult watch for children.It sets out a disturbing wave many times.
2. Questioning the morality as such.Starts to wonder how humans can be worse than animals.

 #BOX OFFICE AND OTHER DETAILS.
     The movie is a British-Canadian production and the movie won the hearts of many critics.It was first shown in the Toronto film festival where it won the Audience choice for the Best picture.The movie won several accolades in many film festivals that year and it was voted in the Top Ten movies of 2007.The movie received 3 nominations in the Golden Globe.Mortensen was also nominated for the Best Actor category in the 80th Academy awards.
     The movie was a moderate success at the box office garnering around $57 million worldwide.

TIP OF THE DAY: SOMETIMES IT'S NOT THE PEOPLE WHO CHANGE,IT'S THE MASK THAT FALLS OFF.
