REVIEW# 70
MOVIE: MACHETE [2010]
Genre: Action/Thriller/Violence
Cast: Danny Trejo,Steven Seagal,Robert De Niro,Jessica Alba,Lindsay Lohan
Director: Robert Rodriguez,Ethan Maniquis
IMDb rating: 6.6/10
Deeps rating: 7/10
Verdict: Danger!!!!Kids stay out of it....
I always believed that Quintin Tarantino makes the most violent movies in this world. But after Machete,Robert Rodriguez wins the race hands down. The movie is filled with so much blood and flesh,I wonder how can anyone even dream about such a plot and execute it in this brutal manner. But still I must say if you are ready to unscrew your brains and go for a journey through hell, then this is the right movie.I liked it and may watch a second time but I am not sure about you and I won't recommend this movie for family viewing.
The movie itself is based on the dangerous and violent Mexican drug mafia who fights against the American law of illegal immigration.Machete[Danny Trejo] is a former Federal officer who fights against the notorious drug lord Rogello Torrex[Steven Seagal].His wife and daughter gets killed and he gets seriously wounded in his mission to kill Torrez.Three years later Machete reappears, roaming Texas doing labor work.Machete is approached by Micheal Booth,a local business man to assassinate State Senator John McLughlin[Rober de Niro],who has vowed to send hundreds to illegal immigrants out of America and planning to build a electric fence across Mexican border.
But Machete realizes that it was a trap to boost the Senators reputation during elections and he finds himself trapped and hunted by cops for attempted murder.Hell breaks lose as the dangerous and beastly Machete decides to take revenge. He is helped by a group lead by 'SHE' called the Network, who is fighting for the rights of illegal immigrants. No force in the world can stop the Machete from killing till the end,and that has to be Torrez, the man who destroyed his family.
Everyone in this movie is dangerous and ready to kill at any time, even the Priest who happens to be Machete's brother. The movie is filled with so much blood and flesh that it's not recommended for tender hearts. But if you are ready to pump up your adrenaline then it's an arousing watch.
Danny Trejo has done a brilliant job and beyond doubt,no one else in Hollywood can portray Machete better than him given his looks and figure.Steven Seagal excels as Torrez but the role is just too short for a superstar like him.Robert De Niro,as usual perfectly fits in as the crooked Senator, but I doubt, for a star of his stature could have avoided this role. The rest of the cast has nothing much to do other than killing people and so not much space to showcase their talents.Any how I will wind up saying that it's a rare movie and hence so, not to be missed.Get ready to watch some of the gruesome scenes in Hollywood...
I am Deepak Unnikrishnan and I will be back with another good movie from my collection soon.
