      The mother of all thrillers,that's what can be described about this 1991 crime thriller.This movie shook the audience with some raw crime scenes and moreover splendid performances that almost looked real from Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster.Both these actors received accolades from across the world and movie lovers still acknowledge the expertise behind this precision.

Clarice Starling[Jodie Foster],an FBI trainee is assigned with the task of interviewing Hannibal Lecter [Anthony Hopkins],a former psychiatric professor,now imprisoned in solitary confinement for his cannibalistic serial killings and labelled as the most dangerous prisoner.Lecter initially gets impressed with Clarice's sharp approach and frankness suddenly turns hostile when she begins to counter argue with him on his visions.Clarice's frequent visits finally brings success as Lecter assured her to help on the ongoing serial killing by a guy called Buffalo Bill,which seems to be similar to Lecter's past killings.As a psychiatrist Lecter easily picks out the behavioral nature of  Buffallo and promise Clarice regarding details of the killer to help her investigation.

Buffalo carries on with his brutal killings and his next victim happens to be the daughter of a senator and this rocks the nation.Lecter is approached by the senator and lured with relaxation of his solitary confinement,to help cops to find out Buffalo.This puts Clarice in disarray as her investigation is jeopardized and she meets one final time with Lecter.She pleads him for his help,but Lecter leaves her with a clue in one word.

     After the final meeting with Clarice,Lecter escapes from his new prison killing two cops.This spreads panic across the nation and the cops are alerted to track down Lecter and also Buffalo.Clarice continues her investigation and finally the word strikes her.'Covet' was the word that helps her to rethink her strategy and it yields fruit finally.

              The movie which was made at a mediocre budget went on to collect more than $270 million at the box office.It's one of the few movies to win all the five major awards at the Oscars not to mention about other major awards it received.Still considered as an epic of all times,this movie is surely an asset in your lifetime movie collection.
