REVIEW : HEAT [1995]

REVIEW# 6
MOVIE: HEAT {1995}
Cast:  Al Pacino,Robert de Nero,Val Kilmer,Natalie Portman
Director: Michael Mann
IMDb rating: 8.2/10
Deeps rating: 8.5/10
Verdict: The best crime thriller ever made in Hollywood.

                                 "HOPE FOR THE BEST.PLAN FOR THE WORST"

       What happens when the Gods fight????My 12 year old boy told me that there will be thunder,storm,tsunami,earthquake,volcano and for sure too much HEATTT.Well.... he got it right.That's what exactly happened in 1995 when the Gods of world cinema fought against each other.Then there was the movie "HEAT".The movie was sooo hot that it rewrote the concept of thriller movies and now its considered as the mother of all crime thrillers.22 years have gone by but still a movie to compete with this epic is still to be framed.Al Pacino a nd Rober de Nero combinations have always been a dream come true for all movie lovers across the world and this deadly combo is peerless and culminating.

     There was always the debate about who is the best among them.The debate still continues.But I feel that both are the two sides of a coin,entertaining the movie lovers with their multiple talent,versatile acting and charming personality for decades.Hollywood cant breathe without them and the contribution they have given to Hollywood is matchless.

     If there is good there must be a bad,if there is a faithful there must be a cursed,if there is a buety there must be an ugly and if  there is crime there must be justice.Just apply this theory in movies then you see,if there is an accomplished thief then there must be an equally proficient cop.Heat is all about Niel McCauley [Robert de Nero] a seasoned criminal mastered in the art of high profile robbery and chasing him down is a genius and workaholic cop Lt Vincent Hanna[Al Pacino].

    Niel is a professional, heading a gang of efficient guys from various quarters who does a great planning and training before every task he undertakes.He goes about his work silently and get things done with great team work.He is so reliable and sincere and is just like a fatherly figure for his team members.His choice of his team is usualLy perfect but sometimes the best makes errors.There is no room for mistakes in these perilous tasks and as they say one rotten fruit spoils the whole basket,one bad replacement costs them the game.
   Lt Hanna for whom work is above family ,is staggered by the perfection of each thefts and vows to bring Niel and his team down.He has a terrible family life with two divorces and the third one almost lined up as his pursuit for Niel makes him paranormal and leaves his wife frantic.His little daughter Lauren[Natalie Portman]who leads a lonely life full of distress and rejection looks upto her father for support and care.Lt Hanna is so obsessed with his job and in the avidity to take on Niel ,puts his family in jeopardy.
  Mutual respect grows as always between two equally skillful people and so just like the magnetic theory the like poles repel and their hide and seek game gives you jitters nailing you to your seats till the end.I dont want to elaborate on the story too much as it will spoil the fun of watching.Everyone who claims to be movie fans must watch this movie as it is the best crime thriller ever made in World cinema.
  As far as acting is concerned how can anyone be a critic for Al Pacino and Robert de Nero as they are the benchmarks of talent.They are the true encyclopedia of acting and they have done their roles to perfection.I must say they were not competing each other but instead they were living together to make their scenes look flawless.Val Kilmer did his part to perfection even though it would have been a great challenge for him to act with the Legends.Natalie Portman as usual looks so effortless in showcasing Laura.I am not here as a critic as my motive is to promote this movie for the new generation kids who are obsessed with super human comic characters and horror.Guys this one is an epic.

MUST WATCH.
